DTY vs FDY in Knitted Fabrics

DTY and FDY are both common filament yarn routes, but they differ in texture, bulk, surface appearance and the structures they are typically used to develop. Understanding the distinction helps buyers communicate fabric hand feel and visual targets more precisely.

The short distinction

FDY is supplied as a continuous filament yarn with a relatively smooth, oriented surface. DTY is texturised to add bulk and a different filament character. The finished fabric still depends on yarn specification, machine setting, construction and finishing.
